Fairplex Park has been called the biggest little track in America, a Southern California tradition and a crowd-pleaser since 1922. It was the first track in Southern California to offer pari-mutuel wagering when legalized in California in 1933. The guests loved it and attendance leapt to 334,759 that year. To date the five-eighths-mile track has hosted more than 13 million fans over its 1,046-day history. A record-breaking handle was established at the 16-day 2006 L.A. County Fair racing meet when a whopping $113,919,743 was wagered, including a single day handle of $10,390,081. For the 2007 meeting, presented by San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino, there are 12 races featured daily, including a stakes race each day. Jerry Fanning, one of Fairplex Park’s all-time leading trainers, will be inducted into Fairplex Park’s Hall of Fame on Sunday, Sept. 23.
