Betfair HollywoodPark, which conducted its first race meet in 1938, enjoys one of the richest traditions in American racing.
The track, which is located inInglewood, Ca., was acquired by Bay Meadows Land Co. LLC in 2005.
On March 13, 2012, Hollywood Park Racing Association and Betfair US, the Los Angeles based subsidiary of Betfair Group that also owns Television Games Network, completed a historic agreement.
Under terms of the five-year deal, the track was renamed “BetfairHollywoodPark’’ in the first naming rights agreement ever for a horse racing venue in theUnited States.
The goal of the deal is to transform the customer experience for fans at the fabled track as well as online and on television.
The Hollywood Gold Cup, a Grade I at the classic distance of 1 ¼ miles, is the signature race ofBetfairHollywoodPark. The track has hosted the Breeders’ Cup three times – including the inaugural running of racing’s Championship Day in 1984.
Other significant races on the Spring/Summer and Autumn calendar are the American Oaks, CashCall Futurity, Hollywood Starlet, Vanity Handicap, the Charles Whittingham Memorial Handicap, the Gamely Stakes, the Shoemaker Mile and the Triple Bend Handicap.
The Spring/Summer meet traditionally runs from late April until mid July while the Autumn season usually runs from early or mid November through mid or late December.
