Sunday Rainbow 6 pool expected to top $6 million with mandatory payout
Sunday, November 4th, 2018
ARCADIA, Calif. – The 20-cent Rainbow pick six will begin on Sunday at Santa Anita with a 21-day carryover of $1,143,194, which must be distributed on the final day of the autumn meeting.
With such a hefty carryover, track officials expect the pool of new money to surpass $6 million.
Saturday, the 20-cent pick six paid $1,321 to 142 ticketholders. The Rainbow pick six has had multiple winners each day during the meeting, which has caused the carryover pool to exceed seven figures.
The Rainbow portion of the bet is paid only if there is one winning ticket or until a day with a mandatory payout – such as Sunday’s closing day. This is the first meeting in which a 20-cent Rainbow pick six has been offered in California. The bet has proven popular at Gulfstream Park in recent years.
Sunday’s pick six will cover the fifth through 10th races on a program that begins at 11 a.m., Pacific. First post time for the fifth race is scheduled for approximately 1:20 p.m., Pacific.
Prior to Sunday morning’s scratch time, the pick six races have maximum fields of 12, 10, 14, 10, 10, and 12.
There will also be mandatory payouts in three other bets – the 50-cent early pick five on the first five races and late pick five on the final five races, and the $1 super high five, which is offered on races with seven or more betting interests.
